HEREFORD and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service could merge with the fire service for Warwickshire.
Warwickshire County Council’s Fire Brigade Committee approached fire chiefs to discuss the possibility of a collaboration of services.
A working party, made up of members and officers from both authorities, was set up – but talks were put on hold in September following a warehouse fire near Stratford-upon- Avon in which four firefighters died.
Alec Mackie, press officer for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said talks recommenced last week and were expected to conclude this coming September.
Any changes would have no adverse impact on the service provided in Herefordshire, added Mr Mackie.
