EXCAVATIONS will be carried out at Credenhill Hill Fort this summer.
An archaeological team from Herefordshire Council will be joined by students from Cardiff and Hull University for next month’s dig.
The team will look in more detail at the area that produced evidence of Roman activity during a similar dig last year.
They will also look at reopening some of the areas explored during the 1950s, plus an area of a defensive rampart which has been disturbed by a culvert.
Work will also be carried out looking at the effect of trees on the site.
Meanwhile, open days will be held at the hill fort on July 5 and 6 for members of the public to see the latest work being carried out.
Two walks will be held on each of the day’s, one at 10am and the other at 2pm. Numbers are restricted and bookings should be made by contacting Jacky Denovan on 01432 260470.
