Kington Show will be holding a fundraising event on Sunday, July 6 – a Sunday lunch in a marquee at Combe Farm, near Presteigne, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Roger Chilman.

Guest speaker will be Barry Williams – renowned for his after-dinner speaking.

Tickets are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, costing £12.50 and a barbecue will also be available for children.

Schedules Livestock schedules are now available for horses, cattle, sheep and poultry classes.

For the horse section, there will be hunters, in hand hunters, children ridden show ponies, Mountain and Moorland, Section A-D Welsh pony/cobs, unaffiliated coloured ponies, unaffiliated working hunter, Shire Horses, Commercial Driving, Exercise Vehicles and Private Driving. New for 2008 will be Pony Club classes.

Included in the cattle classes will be the ever popular Pedigree Herefords, with increasing entries every year; British Belgian Blue, Any other Beef Breed and Commercial Cattle.

The Sheep classes are also widening to cover more breeds, new for 2008 will be the Berrichon and Badger Faced.

Trade stands The carcase competition continues to be very popular, last year receiving 55 lamb carcases, many will be auctioned on the day of the show.

After such a successful poultry show last year, the poultry entries are certain to exceed its initial first year, with two new cups being donated.

Trade stands are being booked, with already numbers up by 20% from last year.

New for 2008 will be a food marquee, with discount trade stands being given to local producers from Herefordshire, Radnorshire and Shropshire.

Prizes will be given to large, small and food/craft trade stands for the best in show. As space is now so limited, trade stands will be given on a first come, first serve basis, please book as soon as possible.

Bluetongue As zones may change over the next few months and the uncertainty of movement of livestock this summer, would all exhibitors please enter as soon as possible any way.

Entries must be received before the closing date. All exhibitors that are unable to attend the show due to the restrictions of Bluetongue at the time only, will be given a full refund after the show.

Mobility The society is always keen for the show to be open and available to everyone.

This year, thanks to a Kington Town Council grant, Event Mobility will be at the show.

They will provide powered wheelchairs and electric scooters for the use of disabled, elderly and mobility impaired visitors to the show.
