A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and child cruelty in Hereford.
The 17-year-old was arrested on Friday following the alleged attack at Hereford County Hospital.
Superintendent Kevin Purcell, of Herefordshire Division, said: "I can confirm that a 17-year-old female was arrested for attempted murder and child cruelty. I can also confirm that a 2-month old child is also now the subject of an Emergency Protection Order and remains in hospital, though his condition is not life-threatening."
"Our involvement in this case stems from working in partnership with local social services and staff from Hereford County Hospital. National protocols were put in place throughout our investigation."
Peter Butcher, police press officer, said the teenager remains in custody and added that it was likely she would appear before Hereford Magistrates Court tomorrow.
