CHAMPAGNE corks popped in Luston on Saturday as villagers celebrated the culmination of many months of work with the unveiling of a pictorial parish map.
Parish council chairman Roger Onions and David Macleod, of the parish plan action team, welcomed villagers to a site at The Willows, Luston, where the new map has been mounted in a timber-made display stand with a pitched roof.
The new landmark was unveiled by the area’s county councillor, John Stone. Members of Luston History Group provided information about the wealth of historic buildings in the area. Action team volunteers worked to make the idea a reality with a major role being played by villager Heather Phillips, who took many of the photographs and laid out of the map.
