NEW figures a year on from the smoking ban show most of Herefordshire’s public premises have abided by the law.
Herefordshire Council says that over the past 12 months, 78 complaints were received about pubs allowing people to smoke, while 18 people were reported for smoking in work vehicles such as taxis.
The complaints had led to one prosecution and one fixed penalty notice being served. Four people had also been interviewed by police.
The council says that it continues to offer advice and support to businesses and the general public and has received almost 30 requests for information on smoking shelters.
