A HUSBAND and wife were taken to hospital after being thrown from a horse and carriage.
The couple were travelling along the Kempley Road between Dymock and Upton Bishop at around 2.15pm yesterday.
Claire Thomas, for the ambulance service, said a man and a woman were found out of the carriage and both the County Air Ambulance and a land ambulance were sent to the scene.
“The 61-year-old man, who was unconscious and on the road, suffered serious arm and leg injuries and crews were concerned that the man had internal injuries,” she said.
“The man was immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board before being flown to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
“The 59-year-old woman suffered a fractured wrist and knee injury. Crews treated her on scene before she was transferred by land ambulance to the same hospital.
“It is believed the horse, found in a ditch further up the road, was rescued from underneath the carriage by fire fighters and treated by an emergency vet for minor injuries.”
