A HEREFORD woman had three tickets to ride after an unexpected proposal led to a romantic weekend in one of the world’s most fashionable cities.
Mandy Cooper, aged 43, who works at Hereford Railway Station, was whisked away to Paris by horsedrawn carriage, helicopter and airplane after accepting her boyfriend's surprise marriage proposal.
Andy Smith, 42, made the romantic gesture after deciding to make a triple effort to secure his girlfriend's hand.
He proposed at the railway station where Mandy works in the ticket office.
Fortunately, Mandy accepted and the happy couple took a horsedrawn carriage to the Bunch of Carrots in Hampton Bishop to have a meal with friends and family.
Then the couple, who live on College Estate, jumped in a privately chartered helicopter to Birmingham Airport where they caught a flight to the French capital.
Just before hopping aboard Mandy told the Hereford Times that she had not had an inkling about what was about to unfold.
“It’s been wonderful. I’m just totally overwhelmed,” she said. “I never suspected a thing.”
Nicky Cooper, Mandy’s daughter, said: “They met on April this year after being set-up on a blind date. They went round a couple of pubs in Hereford and have been inseparable ever since.”
