A FARMER needed the help of the fire service to prevent a stack of straw bales from self-igniting at the weekend.
Firefighters from Kingsland attended Bidney Farm, Dilwyn, at around 4pm on Saturday.
A stack of 300 round straw bales were extremely hot and, working with the farmer, the crew pulled 150 bales apart and prevented a fire.
