A LEOMINSTER woman is hoping her year-long food challenge can inspire others to create a local meal for less than £5.
That is the task Trish Marsh, along with Flavours of Hereford, is setting the county. A £50 first prize presented by TV’s Hairy Bikers is up for grabs.
Trish is past the halfway mark in her own attempt to eat and drink nothing but Herefordshire and Fairtrade produce for a year.
To take part in the challenge, devise a menu for a main meal for two people which costs less than £5 and uses only Herefordshire produce.
Flour, herbs, spices and condiments can be sourced outside the county.
Entrants are asked to include a list of prices and suppliers of the ingredients and to estimate a price if something is home-grown.
Send your entries to gem@herefordshire.
gov.uk by October 6. The first prize will be presented at the Hereford Food Festival after a ‘cook off’.
