THE head of Brecon Beacons National Park Authority has been suspended while investigations are carried out into how it is run.
Chief executive Chris Gledhill has been given leave for two months on full pay while external and internal investigators examine the leadership of the authority, which preserves natural beauty and controls planning in and around the Brecon Beacons.
Chairman Mary Taylor said the move, agreed by all 24 board members, was not an indication of any wrongdoing but was intended to allow examinations to progress on “neutral” grounds.
“While ongoing investigations into the management of this authority continue, I would like to take this opportunity to reassure our communities that the officers and members of this authority continue to work extremely hard to deliver our services,” she said.
Countryside director John Cook will become acting chief executive in Mr Gledhill’s absence.
