A HEREFORD fundraiser has won an award for his outstanding contribution to Cancer Research UK.
Alan Owen was named Cancer Research UK Honorary Fellow at the charity’s annual Flame of Hope Awards, which recognise remarkable efforts in fundraising and volunteering made by people from all walks of life.
Mr Owen, who was presented with his award by the Mayor of Hereford, Councillor Kevin Wargen, has supported the charity for more than 25 years in which time he has acted as treasurer of the Hereford committee and an In Memoriam ambassador.
Mr Owen said: “I am honoured and privileged to receive this award and I am delighted to have been associated with Cancer Research UK for so many years. The continued need to raise funds for research into cancer is very important.”
