MORE than 800 entries were submitted for the first ever Radnorshire garden competition.
Walter Johnson from Milbank in Norton, near Presteigne, took the Best Kept Garden prize and the Best Kept Senior Citizens Housing Estate went to St Edwards Close householders in Knighton.
Judges spent five days looking at 737 gardens and 76 housing estates before naming winners in categories that also included Best Kept Housing Estate and Best Kept Senior Citizens Garden.
Councillor Graham Brown from Powys County Council said: “The competition was a great success and I would like to thank all those who participated and made it an extremely difficult competition to judge.”
