A MAN was flown to hospital by the county’s air ambulance after a head-on collision near Ross-on-Wye this morning.
The injured man was driving a blue Peugeot when it was in collision with a small van on a slip road off the A40 at Whitchurch.
Paramedics worked alongside police officers and Dr Malcolm Russell from the Mercia Accident Rescue Service after receiving the call shortly after 11.30am.
Dr Russell said it took almost one hour to free the Peugeot driver before he was flown to Hereford County Hospital with, what he believed, were serious but non-life threatening injuries.
He said the van driver was less seriously hurt and was taken to hospital by land ambulance.
