HISTORIC Herefordshire apples will be on display in Leominster at the weekend.
More than 200 varieties will be on show at Berrington Hall’s Apple Weekend including Crimson Queening, a Herefordshire apple used in cider making, and the Catshead, a traditional West Midlands apple used to make dumplings for farm workers in the 17th century.
Dr Hare’s, which dates from 1884 and is thought to have originated near Leominster, will also be display in the potting shed.
There will also be a range of food and craft stalls, refreshments in the tea room and falconry displays by Bromyard-based Trevor Hill Falconry.
The event takes place on September 27 and 28 between 11am and 4pm. Normal admission prices apply. For more information call 01568 615721.
