A TOWN council wants all new homes built in Herefordshire to have solar panels.
Leominster Town Council is to ask county planners to encourage the developers of all new-builds to provide a minimum of one solar panel, a water butt, compost bin and duel-volume flushes on toilets as part of a development control policy.
The recommendation comes after the town council’s own planning committee were asked to consider a paper published by the Department for Communities and Local Government entitled Greener Homes for the Future.
The paper sets out a code for future home-building, using materials from sustainable sources, energy and water-saving methods and producing lower carbon emissions.
