A HEREFORD school has launched an alternative curriculum enterprise (ACE) to provide a new learning programme for its students.
Aylestone High School launched the programme, which is aimed at students who respond well to physical and practical challenges, with the help of the West Midlands Army Recruiting Team.
The course offers a diverse range of qualifications which will go towards a COPE level 2 award – equivalent to GCSE grade B.
There will also be the opportunity for students to study an additional vocational qualification at a work placement or further education site.
Course co-ordinator Julia Raven said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to engage with learning in a very dynamic way.”
Students will also engage in problem solving, team building and physical challenges and take part in mock interviews.
A sports-themed wall frieze was also on display at the launch.
