PLANS to build six detached houses in a south Herefordshire village have been refused.

Councillors felt the development, which was outlined for land at the back of Hazlenut Cottage, Llangrove, was out of scale and would lead to over development.

Outline planning permission to put six dwellings on the site was granted in September 2004 and, in April, members of the southern area planning sub-committee approved plans for three detached homes, two semis and a bungalow.

Councillor Jenny Hyde, the local member for Llangrove, said: “It is not acceptable to come back with a variation. A semi-detached house would be more affordable and there is already a problem with traffic on what is a country lane. Already, an adequate planning application has been accepted.”
