CHURCH NEWS-As a result of the special collection in church, together with other donations, a cheque for £500.00 has been sent to the Hamlin Fistula charity. ORGAN RECITAL-To celebrate the restoration of the Nicholson Organ at St. Mary’s, Dilwyn, there will be a Recital in the Church on Saturday November 1st, by the eminent Dr. Roy Massey, Organist Emeritus of Hereford Cathedral and former President of the Royal College of Organists. Tickets (at £7.50) are available now from Tom Hawksley on 01544 318007. Please book early to avoid disappointment. The concert will commence at 7.30pm and refreshments will be served afterwards. On this occasion, the proceeds will be put to the Church Fabric Fund.

DILWYN YFC-The Chairlady of Dilwyn Young Farmers Club, Amy Best, would like to congratulate the club on a great result at the County Ploughing Match, held at Stagsbatch Farm, Leominster on September 21st. A big thank you must go to all the Associate members, Club President, Vice Presidents, parents and all other supporters. Congratulations to member Gareth Jenkins for his fine display of crops, winning 3rd prize, to Ted Best and Sam Bright for coming 2nd in Clay Pigeon Shooting and to the Go-Kart team for gaining 1st place with a beautifully crafted water tank by Oli Williams, transported by Vice Chairman Will Wellings and bravely driven by Ben Lewis and Tom Bennet. Congratulations to the First Aid team, Ben Lewis and Tom Reddock for coming 4th, Georgie Rees for a 1st in jewellery, Charlotte Rees for a 1st with a Decoupage Card and a 3rd for carving a lovely woolly sheep, on the day, in the Soap Carving category . Chocolate truffles won Hope Baldwin a 1st, Jaz Baldwin won 2nd for beetroot relish, Emma Lewis a 1st for chocolate chip cookies, Beth Hanson a 3rd with Homemade Battenburg Cake and Jack Hanson’s Biggest Onion came 4th. Overall the club came 1st in the Domestic Section and 2nd in the Ploughing.
