BARRS Court School made a splash with the £1 million it raised for a hydrotherapy pool and now, out of the blue, it has got a little bit more to show what the pool can do.
Headteacher Richard Aird says £50,000 coming to the school from new homes planned for Holmer is “very welcome” and will widen the use of the pool, particularly during out-ofschool hours.
The money is conditional on the development being completed, in a deal sealed this week by Councillor Brian Wilcox, cabinet member for highways and the school’s ward member.
Work on the pool started in the summer after £1 million was raised in a special appeal launched through the Hereford Times in 2004.
The school is to carry on fundraising to finance any unforeseen expenses and subsidise the pool’s running costs until it becomes selfsufficient.
