Hereford Deaf Children Society Summer Activity 2008 THE Hereford Deaf Children Society organised a Summer Activity which 20 kids aged between 5 – 16 years attended. Deaf children/young people and their siblings were resident at the Malvern Outdoor Centre for five days in a communication-friendly atmosphere.
The kids chose their own adventurous activities in a planning session prior to the activity. All the volunteers were overwhelmed by the children/young people's courage and behaviour whilst at the centre. They took part in parachute jumps, king swing, zip wire, absailing and much, much more! Even the volunteers had a go at the activities. Well done to everybody.
The HDCS would like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the activity run so smoothly, without our volunteers activities such as this would not take place. We would also like to thank the Malvern Outdoor Centre for making us feel so welcome. We're so pleased that your centre has not been closed down. It would have been such a shame for so many people. The kids who attended the Summer Activity grew in so many ways - confidence, independence, overcame fears and they had a brilliant time in a safe environment – THANK YOU!
We would like to give our sincere thanks to Sun Valley, NDCS, the Eveson Trust, the Lion's Club and the Kathleen Warry Trust Fund for their financial support to enable the Summer Activity to take place.
