THE Annual General Meeting of the Vaga Probus Club, Ross-on-Wye was held on September, 23 at the Conservative Club. The retiring President (Dr Richard Parker) reviewed the work that members of the committee had put in and thanked them all, particularly the Speaker Secretary (Tony King) who had provided the club with a wide variety of speakers every fortnight, covering such diverse subjects as the Forest of Dean Caves and the deciphering of medieval handwriting, while the Social Secretary (Ken Reddings) had created a programme which ranged from a visit to Chepstow Races to a conducted tour of ancient houses and interesting churches in Herefordshire, as well as organising two lunches.
The accounts were presented and approved and the subscription for the coming year was agreed, payable half-yearly. There was a discussion with regard to a possible alternative to the Conservative Club as a meeting place, which the new committee would examine further. The appointment of a Publicity Officer was agreed.
Our new President, Jack Colman, was duly elected, together with a new committee: Tony King (Vice-President and Speaker Secretary), the Venerable Paul Wheatley (Hon Secretary), Keith Ray (Treasurer), Michael Price, Ian Cast, Stuart Rosser (Hon Auditor) and Richard Parker (Publicity Officer.
