A PROPOSAL to build 10 new homes in Leominster town centre has been approved.

Developers will demolish several garage blocks off Westfield Walk and replace them with one set of semi-detached properties and two terraces, one of five houses and one of three.

Northern planning committee members gave it the thumbs-up last week, despite objections from residents, who said the area was currently used for parking and development would cause further congestion problems on the Bargates.

Planning officers said such matters had already been assessed and they were “fine with it”.

Councillor Roger Hunt said Westfield Walk was used as a rat run from and to Bargates and was concerned it would get worse, but recommended approval as long as the developer helped to improve this.
