ENTERTAINMENT of a different kind could be coming to Hereford if a businessman gets his way.
The venue, on Berrington Street, would host a wide range of acts from live music to comedians and tribute bands.
It will be based beneath the Blue Lounge, a ‘chill out’ bar and club which opened earlier this year, and could create upwards of 20 new jobs.
“Every city apart from Hereford seems to have a bespoke live venue and I have no doubt there is the market for one here, “ said Dave Moczulski, owner of the Blue Lounge, the named applicants.
“The Blue Lounge will become part of this. Our core business is anything live and I want to give Hereford something it doesn’t really have. At the moment, people are having to travel to places like Bristol to experience live venues like this.”
Mr Moczulski said the venue would serve good quality food and drink, while the age of customers was likely to be dependant on what was being staged there.
“These are exciting times and obviously I hope it will get approved. I also think it will help address the balance on this side of town which seems to have become a bit isolated recently.”
The plan is to cite the venue where Blue Lizard Fitness currently stands. Mr Mocozulski said the gym would be “moving somewhere else” and he was in negotiations over where it could go.
Herefordshire Councillors will have the final say on whether the venue will be allowed to open but is not expected to make a decision on the application for a couple of months.
