WINDOW shoppers on Hereford’s Commercial Road can now familiarise themselves with plans for the Edgar Street Grid development.

The Herefordshire Council-owned Franklin Barnes site on the Commercial Road/Blueschool Road junction, now empty following the closure of furniture retailer Bliss Homes, has seen ESG bosses erect photos and plans of the development in the shop window.

“ESG, with the co-operation of Here-fordshire Council, has decided to make use of the window space in what is a prominent location,” said ESG spokes-man George Thomas. “The site is owned by Herefordshire Council and has previously been acquired as part of the long-term plan for the Catherine Street area.”

The closure of Bliss adds to the sorry scene on nearby Commercial Street which has seen many shops closing in the past 12 months including independent department store Chadds and national firm Zavvi. Mostyn’s Curtains has also left the street but remains in business, having moved to Eign Gate.
