TWO Herefordshire students are to spend 10 days teaching at an orphanage in Thailand.
Gemma Simpson, aged 25, from Bromyard, and Sarah Fraser, 27, from Ross-on- Wye, will fly out on August 20 thanks to a scholarship scheme funding half the cost of the trip.
The students are training to be teachers at the University of Worcester and were awarded £350 each from its scholarship fund.
“We talked about teaching in different cultures during one of our lectures and then shortly afterwards, we saw an advert for the scholarships,”
said Gemma.
“We thought it would be an amazing experience to teach in another country and so we found a company that facilitates short trips to teach and then we applied for a scholarship.”
The students are also planning to take stationery supplies to Thailand.
