ECO-FRIENDLY fun is on the agenda in Hay-on-Wye this weekend with a day of activities called ‘Waste Not Want Not’ planned for the Buttermarket.
A waste exhibition from primary school pupils and Hay youth club, home composting demonstrations and a variety of art and craft activities to highlight waste disposal problems are free for all on Saturday (April 18) between 11am and 3pm.
Powys’ board member for waste Ken Harris, who will meet and greet guests at the event, said: “We’re delighted with Transition Hay-On-Wye’s work to engage with the community and encourage the three Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle – in a fun and practical way.”
Climate group Transition will be asking residents to do one or all of the following three things: start making their own compost, get a shopping bag for life and buy food with minimal packaging.
