A HEREFORD couple are heartbroken as their cat had to have one of its legs amputated after it was shot.

Andrew and Linda Baggott’s seven-year-old cat Sam was shot in his right foreleg in the Beech Grove area of Hinton.

Mr Baggott said Sam appeared to have a floppy leg after the attack on Tuesday, March 31. He took a closer look and found a lump.

“It turned out to be an air rifle pellet embedded in his leg,” he said.

Sam was rushed to the vet’s, but the fracture caused by the pellet was not repairable and his leg had to be amputated.

“It beggars belief that a heartless person could do something like this,” said Mr Baggott.

“An inch or two either side would have killed him.”
