FLICKS IN THE STICKS – Next Wednesday, April 15, Persepolis, an animated film, is at Escleyside Hall, Michaelchurch Escley. It tells the story of an Iranian girl during the Islamic revolution. Adults £4 and children £2.50. Doors open at 7.30pm. For details, call 01981 510696.
MONNOW VALLEY ARTS CENTRE – Is open with an exhibition by Edgar Holloway who lived in the Llanthony Valley in the 1940s before settling in Sussex.
Included are paintings of Craswall, Offa’s Dyke and the Black Mountains. The centre is open from Wednesdays to Fridays 11am to 6pm and at weekends from 2pm to 5pm. Entrance is free but donations are welcome. The centre is well worth a visit as it is in beautiful countryside with a lovely garden.
LONGTOWN AND DISTRICT WI – Next meeting is on Tuesday at Longtown Hall. The speaker, on Herefordshire Centre for Independent Living is Marion Tweed-Rycroft. The meeting starts at 7.15pm with the talk at 8.15pm. Visitors are welcome. The fee of £1 includes lovely refreshments.
LONGTOWN COMMUNITY SCHOOL – Congratulations to Longtown Community School for its Key Stage 2 results for 2008 which places the school in the top 14 per cent of primary schools in England for English, maths and science combined. What a wonderful testament to all the staff and pupils at the school, as well as to the parents, governors and the community.
