AV A GO PANTO PRESENTATION TO CHARITIES – Representatives from four designated charities were at Garway Village Hall for presentations from the hard work of this local amateur panto group.
John Jarvis, from Headway, explained how this charity provided therapy in many forms to people aged 16 to 65 who suffered from brain injury as well as helping them get aid from local social services.
Sarah Higginson, from St Michael’s Hospice, explained how the charity helps children of terminally ill parents cope with uncertainty and anxiety.
Leslie Merrick, from St Bridget’s Church at Skenfrith, said monies raised would go towards one of the eight stained glass windows that urgently needed replacing in this 800-year-old building.
Finally, Dave Atkinson received the cheque for Garway Village Hall, which will help keep the hall as a vital part of the local community – not least for the annual panto.
Richard Sperry, Lorraine Webb, Josh Jasper and Julie Gwillim represented the panto group in donating the individual cheques to the four charities.
COMMUNITY SHOP – The village shop has re-opened for Easter, at weekends from noon to 6pm at the old garage opposite the castle. Serving teas and snacks, local produce and bric-a-brac, the shop is run by volunteers, with profits donated to local charities.
YOGA ON THURSDAYS – Yoga classes are held every Thursday at Skenfrith Village Hall from 6pm to 7.30pm. Classes cost £5 for a drop in session and £4 a class paid half termly in advance.
