BROMYARD governors have appointed a doctor to continue their school’s revival.

Dr Michael Goodman has been appointed headteacher of Queen Elizabeth Humanities College.

He has been acting headteacher since Adrian Long transferred to Minster College last autumn.

He joined in 1996 as an RE teacher and was previously head of department and assistant headteacher. His recent tenure has included an encouraging Ofsted report and improved school facilities.

Governors made the decision after a two-week selection programme that included a grilling from staff and students.

Chairman of governors Louise Gibbs said the board was delighted with the appointment.

“We are looking forward to working with Dr Goodman on continued school improvement and raising standards,” she said.

“He has an enormous capacity for hard work and is totally committed to education at QE and the wider community in Bromyard.”
