A PROMISING footballer is fighting for his life following a serious accident on Saturday.
Paul Monteath, aged 22, was a front seat passenger in a blue Peugeot 307 when it hit a telegraph pole on the A4103 just before Newtown crossroads at around 1.20am.
The Hinton FC striker sustained multiple fractures to his skull and was taken to Hereford County Hospital before being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Mr Monteath’s health has improved through the week but he was still in a critical condition today (Wednesday).
A 19-year-old female rear seat passenger sustained minor injuries in the accident.
All the emergency services attended and the road was closed for several hours.
