FILMS – The audience at the last of the current series of afternoon films held in the village hall on Tuesday, April 7, enjoyed an unexpected treat when the first film entitled Josephine was shown. This took the form of an interview with Josephine Burgoyne, who related a wonderful account of life in Eardisley from the beginning of the Second World War until the late 1940s. She told of coming to Eardisley from London with her late husband, Harry, who was a member of the well-known Burgoyne family. She came initially for a week, but is still in residence at the heart of the village. To the delight of the audience, Mrs Burgoyne was present to see the film and was warmly congratulated by them. The next film tomorrow (Friday) will be Sex and the City. Doors open at 7pm and the programme starts at 7.30pm. COFFEE MORNING – On Friday, April 24, there will be a coffee morning at 9 Millsteam Gardens at 10.30am. It is in aid of the World Medical Fund for Children. There will be cakes, a bring-and-buy and a raffle, so please come along and support this worthy cause. LUNCH – Come to the village hall on Sunday at 1pm and enjoy good company and an excellent lunch. Tickets can be obtained at the village shop.
