Help is on the way for farmers needing to subsoil their grassland after two wet seasons, heavy use by livestock and the even heavier use of bigger and heavier machines for grass harvesting and muck spreading.
It comes in the form of a machine called a sward lifter and will be demonstrated by OPICO at the Grassland UK show at Shepton Mallet on May 7.
The machine is said to break up pans and surface compaction, repairing the damage and opening up subsoil for better aeration and drainage.
It comes in two sizes, priced at £10,999 and £15,910.
