AN ARMY of Bromyard teenagers are hitting the front line in the battle against litter.
Things are changing at the Army Cadet Force - there’s a new sergeant at the helm and numbers are rising.
But their battle to win hearts and minds starts in Bromyard with a litter sweep this Sunday (April 19).
Sergeant Richard Westlake took over in November and wants the detachment to get more involved in the community.
The litter pick is an early mission, while the cadets will head to the Black Mountains next month to search for crash sites. They tried skiing in the Scottish Highlands in February, and have enjoyed training exercises with their Ledbury counterparts.
“We’ve got lots of things going on that will give a flavour of the things we do,” said Sgt Westlake, who recently completed a foundation course with fellow instructor, Sgt Wood.
“But I also want Bromyard to be more aware of what we’re doing. I want these kids to do different things so if anyone needs some community help then we’d like to hear.”
