KINGTON Show organisers have joined in the call for support following a wash out in the town last summer.

Those behind the annual event want to make sure this year’s show is better than ever after the last one was cancelled due to torrential rain and a waterlogged showground.

Residents are being asked to raise as much money as they can between now and the September event at fundraisers including a race night in Titley Village Hall.

Vice-chair Kathryn Williams said: “We hope as many people as possible will support our fundraising events this year, with a huge amount of money lost due to the cancellation of the show it is imperative that we recoup some money but more importantly bring the community together and have a good evening.”

Her comments follow a recent plea from Kington Vintage Club to help make its 2009 show also go with a swing after flooding last year almost led to it being cancelled for good.

Tickets for the race night on April 25 include a light ploughman’s and cost £5 from Kathryn on 01544 231745.
