RESIDENTS living on the Welsh border can now report non-urgent crime more easily after Wales became the first UK country to provide an alternative to dialling 999.
By contrast householders in Powys, for example, can now call 101 for less serious incidents that still require the assistance of Dyfed Powys Police or other officers.
Problems like anti-social behaviour, dangerous driving or noisy neighbours can all be raised by calling the number after a Home Office trial in Cardiff proved successful.
Crimes that are violent or potentially life-threatening, or road accidents, should still be reported using 999.
