A TRAINING course set up by 7Y Services in Leominster to help farmers save tractor fuel has been given national recognition.
The Fuel Efficiency Awareness Training (FEAT) is the first of its kind in the country and has received LANTRA accreditation. The course places emphasis on understanding the complex dynamics of power, weight, torque and hydraulics.
With fuel costs representing 20 per cent of total costs when using a tractor, ways of using the machines more effectively have struck a chord with farmers.
The course looks at all the factors which influence fuel consumption, investigating driving styles, tyres, size of vehicle, maintenance, size of field and storage of fuel.
The next course starts on Tuesday, May 19. To book, call Andrew Meredith on 01568 619117.
