A HEREFORDSHIRE man has been banned from driving for 18 months following the death of a teenage motorcyclist.
Phillip Michael Evans was found guilty at a trial at Hereford magistrates court on Monday of driving without due care and attention.
The 22-year-old, of Court Bungalow, Glewstone, must also pay £200 in fines, £100 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge after his Mitsubishi Colt was in collision with a moped ridden by 16-year-old Dean Fulford in August 2007.
The teenager was coming back home to the town after visiting girlfriend Rebecca Howson when the collision occurred between 9.30pm and 10pm.
Mr Fulford suffered multiple injuries when the Keen Bad Boy CX he was riding left the road near the A40 Wilton Roundabout. He died at the scene.
The former John Kyrle High School pupil was described as a “lovely, quiet lad” by his headteacher following the tragedy and as an “intelligent young man” by colleagues at Haigh Engineering, where he worked as a machining apprentice.
