BLUEBELL WALK – The Friends of Cascob Church are holding a bluebell walk around Cascob on Saturday. Meet at the church for 3pm. £5 entry fee includes tea and cakes in the church after the walk. Lots of easy parking in the field just past the church. All proceeds in aid of the restoration of St Michael’s Church, Cascob.

KEEP FIT – Carol Bowen is taking keep fit classes for the over-50s every Tuesday at the Royal British Legion club from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. The classes cost £3 per person. Why not pop along and keep fit while having fun and meeting others. Please bring a drink and wear suitable loose clothing.

CRICKET CLUB – The cricket club recently held the annual Easter bingo at the British Legion and raised more than £550 for club funds. A big thank you to everyone who attended or gave prizes, especially Liz Trayor, the club’s president, for all her hard work. There is a nets practice session organised at Bridge Street in Leominster on Tuesday, April 28, from 7pm to 9pm. All present players and anyone interested in joining the club are urged to attend.

The new season kicks off on Saturday, May 2, away at Hay, with the first home game scheduled for Saturday, May 9, at Broadaxe at 2pm. Anyone wishing to sponsor a company name on the team shirts for the season can do so for £50 or a match day ball can be sponsored for £20. FOOTBALL MATCH – Presteigne over-35s played their Kington counterparts at Kington last Saturday in front of a bumper crowd on a lovely spring evening. Kington came out victors by three goals to one but the best goal came from Presteigne's Glen Tyler, with a 25-yard free kick. Nineteen ex-players turned out against a much younger Kington side, who had played together before, so the scoreline was a credit to the Presteigne players. The eagerly awaited return match will take place at Presteigne’s Llanandras Park on Sunday, May 24, at the fun day, which will also include the reserve side in the Presteigne Nurse charity cup final.

COFFEE MORNING – The Evergreen Club recently held a coffee morning in aid of the Air Ambulance and raised £217.10. They would like to thank everyone who supported the event. THANK YOU – David and Helen Weale would like to thank everyone who attended their recent prize bingo in aid of the bowling club. A good time was had by all.

FUN RIDE – There is a fun horse ride in Norton on Bank Holiday Monday, May 4. The first horse will start at 10am with the last horse at 1pm. There is a choice of a six or 12-mile course and jumps will be available for the more competent riders. Refreshments will be available and rosettes will be issued to all participants. TALK – Renowned potter Jonathon Chiswell Jones is giving a talk on William Morris and the Arts and Craft movement tomorrow (Friday) at St Andrew’s Church hall from 7.30pm. Admission is £5 on the door, which will include an interval drink. He will also be exhibiting his work for sale in the church hall the following day, from 10am to 4pm.
