APPLICATIONS are being accepted for a short course in adventure.
The University of the Great Outdoors returns to Herefordshire next month – and you don’t need a degree to enjoy it.
Dozens of outdoor activities are taking place over May Bank Holiday at Hampton Court, near Leominster.
More than 4,000 people enjoyed kayaking, off-road driving and other activities during last year’s event at Eastnor Castle.
This year’s course should attract a few adrenaline junkies and includes a 280-metre zip-wire across the Lugg. There’s also a bungee trampoline and a climbing wall along with more relaxing activities like canoeing and cycling.
The event has also attracted a reclusive driver – Perry Macarthy, the original Stig from BBC’s Top Gear.
“We’re hoping to have some car demonstrations and we’re glad he’s coming along,” said Jane Lewis, of Visit Herefordshire. “There’s plenty of great activities to enjoy, no matter how adventurous you are.”
The university opens its doors between 10am and 5pm on Sunday, May 3, and Bank Holiday Monday.
Prices range from £5 to £25 for a family ticket and includes entrance to Hampton Court Gardens. For more details, call 01432 260621 Thrillseekers can try some of the activities beforehand at the Llangorse multi-activity centre near Talgarth. Call 01874 658272 for more details.
