BROMYARD’S town crier has plenty to shout about after winning a competition in Wiltshire.
Peder Nielsen was in good voice last Saturday (April 25) at the first town criers competition in Melksham.
The loud mouth collected the best dressed award, and was named best town crier after a gutsy performance.
Mr Nielsen defeated more than a dozen criers from across the South West to claim the award.
“It’s the first time in my life that I’ve come first at anything,” said the councillor at the annual town meeting on Monday.
Peder’s success means the town crier has collected five trophies in the last year, and comes a week before the Bromyard competition.
Unfortuntely for Mr Nielsen, he won’t be competing - he’s the host and is forbidden from taking part.
