A MESSAGE about pig care comes from Paul Thompson, veterinary consultant to pigbreeding company ACMC.
As the weather warms up, he is urging pig producers to review ventilation systems.
His advice is to check external fan housing for blockages and that fans are clean and working; ensure temperature probes are cleaned and correctly positioned; remove temporary winter insulation and sprinkler systems need to be checked.
“Warm weather can adversely affect growth rates if these points are not addressed,” said Mr Thompson.
