DR George Nash gave a fascinating and personal talk about the development of Weobley, having been resident there for a number of years.
George’s enthusiasm was infectious as he compared and contrasted the development of the castle, the church and the town.
Supported by an extensive library of photographs and maps, it was possible to see the extent to which early Weobley has survived, with large quantities of building material from the castle dispersed and used within homes still standing today.
George is a world-renowned speaker and we were very lucky to get him.
The Weobley project took several years to unfold and involved the local community as well as other specialists, including Duncan James, studying the timber framed houses.
Duncan is joining us at our next meeting but he will be talking about Bromyard rather than Weobley.
His talk is entitled Timber Framed Buildings Of Bromyard and it will take place at the Talbot Hotel, Leominster, on Monday, May 11, at 7.30pm.
