BORDERS residents can find out more about new door-to-door recycling services coming to Powys next year at a series of roadshows next month.
Those in Hay-on-Wye, Knighton and Presteigne will all get to hear about council plans to increase recycling rates through the household collection of cans, plastic bottles, food waste, paper and textiles.
The free service is expected to more than double recycling and composting rates in the next 15 years in a bid to meet stringent Government targets and avoid massive financial penalties.
Councillor Ken Harris, board member for waste, said: “We have to increase the amount we reduce, re-use and recycle.”
Recycling roadshows will be held at Oxford Road car park in Hay between 11am and 3pm on June 8, at Harry Tuffins in Knighton between 9.30am and 12.30pm on June 18 and next to the police station in Presteigne on the same day between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
