MOTORISTS are experiencing long delays in south Herefordshire following a serious accident this morning in which a man died.
Emergency services were called to the A40 at Whitchurch, just before the Symonds Yat turn-off, shortly before 8am.
The man's car left the road and collided into a building.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics he was confirmed dead at the scene.
The eastbound carriageway towards Ross-on-Wye was closed for some time between the Dixton roundabout at Monmouth and the Symonds Yat exit at Whitchurch, but it has since re-opened.
There are currently reports of up to six miles of traffic on the westbound side of the A40 and drivers are being asked to take alternative routes where possible.
