PETERCHURCH super-mum Pauline Brace has reached new heights in the fight to save her son as she prepares to throw herself out of a plane next month.
But before she can do it the mother-of-four, who has dedicated all her time to helping Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) sufferers since her boy Josh was diagnosed five years ago, needs to raise £10,000.
She will then join daredevils including Amanda Burt, Melanie Williams and Professor Steve Wilton - who is leaving DMD research in Australia to take part - for a skydive in Cirencester on Father’s Day.
Pauline, who later became an advocate for DMD charity Action Duchenne, said: “Two babies every week in the UK alone are born with this, I’m doing this for Josh and for them. Yes I’m terrified, but not as terrified of what will happen if we do not find a treatment quickly enough.”
It will be the latest in a number of county fundraisers to raise money for vital genetic patching trials that could potentially repair faulty genes in DMD sufferers nationwide and delay the onset of symptoms including heart and breathing problems.
Pauline said: “Two families go through this diagnosis every week, we need to change what that diagnosis means.”
