DANCE – A spring dance is to be held in Aymestrey Village Hall tomorrow (Friday) from 8pm till late. Music will be provided by Mervyn Wilson and there will be a bar and refreshments. There will also be a prize draw. Admission is £4 on the door and the proceeds are in aid of village hall funds.

FUNDS BOOST – Aymestrey Village Hall funds were boosted recently when chairman Ken Holland received a cheque for £5,000 from Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water. This is the amount awarded to the residents of Corner Cottages, Yatton, near Aymestrey, following the work to upgrade the water mains which has taken place in the area over the last year. The works compound used for 10 months by the subcontractors carrying out the upgrading work was situated immediately next to these cottages, causing enormous disturbance and nuisance to the residents, who objected, not with the aim of obtaining personal compensation, but in establishing that it was the wrong place to site the compound. Mr and Mrs Griffiths and Mr and Mrs Gilmour therefore asked for this donation to go to the village hall for the benefit of all the community.
