COMMUNI-TEA WEEK – The great British brew was the centre of attention at Bupa’s Cartref Residential Home in Hay-on-Wye last week when residents hosted a variety of activities, including quizzes, games and tea tasting in support of Communi-tea Week.
A nationwide initiative, Communi-tea Week uses the theme of tea to help tackle the problems of isolation and loneliness in older people.
More than 300 care homes across the UK took part, inviting older people who live on their own for a social get-together over a cup of tea.
Sylvia Illingsworth, home manager at Cartref, said: “The residents really enjoyed this event, it was a learning experience as all the quizzes and activities were based on the history of tea.”
