LION BALLROOM – The directors of Leominster’s fine historic Lion Ballroom are committed to a running programme of improvements, with the addition of a green room. The latest feature is the fitting of an induction loop to improve sound quality for the hard of hearing. The management committee is hoping that further grant aid will be available for such items as air-conditioning/heating and, of course, complete renovation of the floor. At present, a wide variety of events take place at the centre and all this has been made possible by various grant bodies, including Leominster Town Council, the Elmley Foundation, Awards for All and the Bulmer Foundation. The ballroom and meeting (green) room may be booked at Gills Gifts in Buttercross Arcade on 01568 611588.
FILM – The Lion Ballroom will screen Slumdog Millionaire (15) on Wednesday, May 6, at 7.30pm. It is advisable to book seats at £4 (students £3.50) at Gill’s Gifts, the Arcade, on 01568 611588.
